What is UK’s One Day Fundraising Event?

For 24 hours on April 19, 2023, University of Kentucky alumni, faculty, staff, students and friends will support their favorite college, program or cause through One Day for UK—the University’s annual giving day.

From the beginning, UK has pioneered new ways to carry out its mission and ensure brighter futures in our state and beyond. And one thing has always been true: when UK alumni, faculty, staff, students and supporters lift together, we can achieve anything.

On One Day for UK, join in the fun and make a gift that will help us build upon our momentum and ensure our promise to publish significant and scholarly books here at the University Press of Kentucky.

How Does One Day for UK Help University Press of Kentucky?

University Press of Kentucky has played a vital role on UK’s campus for over 75 years. The award-winning and critically acclaimed books published at UPK have made their way throughout homes, libraries, and classrooms. It is the University Press of Kentucky’s mission to publish a variety of books about the significance of Kentucky and the regions surrounding it. With the publications of powerful voices that have stories to share, UPK upholds a mission to emphasize culture, community, and diversity.

Because of your help and generous donations, we can continue with our promise and accomplish our goals:

Publish works by respected scholars and authors and offer fresh, new narratives in such subjects as history, fiction, Appalachian studies, African American studies, poetry, and film studies.

Provide free access to 1,300+ books which benefit K-12 schools, public libraries, and fifteen colleges and universities in Kentucky.

Provide valuable and enlightening internship opportunities for undergraduate and graduate students across the state.

Fun Challenges on ONE DAY!

University Press of Kentucky Match
Members of the University Press of Kentucky Editorial Board and Press Committee will generously match donations dollar for dollar up to $700! Make the most of your gift to the University Press Enrichment Fund, and help us keep publishing for the Commonwealth!

1865th Gift of the Day
The lucky donor who makes the 1865th gift on One Day For UK will win an extra $1865 to their selected college, program or cause!

1st Gift of the Day
The college, program or cause that receives the first gift after midnight EDT to begin One Day for UK wins an extra $1,000!

Small Programs + Centers Leaderboard
The small program or center who has the most donors on #OneDayForUK! 1st place wins $1000, 2nd place wins $500.

Facebook Likes Challenge
Go to the UK Philanthropy Official Facebook page to find the One Day for UK Likes challenge post. Like the photo of the college, program or cause of your choice and those with the most likes between Monday and Noon on #OneDayforUK will win the challenge.

Share Your UK Family Challenge
Does your family bleed blue? Post a photo of you or any member of your Big Blue family dressed up in UK gear. Post your picture on Facebook, Twitter or Instagram, include the hashtag #OneDayforUK, and tag your favorite UK college, program or cause. One photo will win $250.

Cats Give Back
Hey Wildcats, we know you love to give back! Post a picture of you or your group making a philanthropic difference in your community. Post your pic and tag UK Philanthropy, being sure to use #CatsGiveBack and #OneDayforUK for a chance to win $500 toward your favorite UK college, program or cause!

Cats and Critters Challenge
We all love our pets, and they all love our WILDCATS! Post your favorite photo of them in their UK gear to Instagram/Twitter/ Facebook by 8 p.m. Include the hashtag #OneDayforUK and tag your favorite UK college, program or cause. One post will win $500.

BBNfluencer Leaderboard
Become a BBNfluencer and spread the word! The influencer who has referred the most gifts on One Day for UK will win $500 for their favorite college, program or cause.
