Happy Irish-American Heritage Month!

March is Irish-American Heritage Month, so check out this bit of Irish heritage in Kentucky:

Yup, the landmark stone fences that line Kentucky’s many farms come from English, Scottish, and Irish settlers to Kentucky! Skilled masons from these countries built these fences in the 18th and 19th centuries out of ancient limestone found in the area. Check out UPK’s book Rock Fences of the Bluegrass by Carolyn Murray-Wooley and Karl Raitz to learn more about these important fixtures of the Kentucky landscape.

While you’re at it, why not go out and enjoy the spring weather while exploring pieces of Kentucky’s history?
