Rethinking Classics

The new Superman movie, Man of Steel, hit theaters last Friday, re-imagining the story of the superhero’s origins. Hollywood frequently likes to re-think classic films – and the original Superman and Superman II movies were released more than 30 years ago! – so a revival of the franchise can’t be too surprising. But did you know that Tom Mankiewicz, author of My LIfe as a Mankiewicz, co-wrote for the original action-filled, superhero tale starring Christopher Reeve?

Mankiewicz also wrote for the hit TV show, Hart to Hart. Adult Swim recently re-made the title sequence for Hart to Hart, with Parks and Recreation‘s Amy Poehler and Adam Scott. Maybe a little less of a serious re-imagination of classic Hollywood than Man of Steel, check out the parody side-by-side with the original opening. And don’t forget, we’re giving away a copy of 3-D Revolution by Ray Zone for some summer movie-inspired reading!
