Author and Contributor John Egerton Dies at 78

EgertonKentucky journalist and writer John Egerton passed away after a heart attack on Thursday. Egerton wrote about – and educated the country about – Southern culture and history. He did this through food in one of his best-known books Southern Food: At Home, on the Road, in History. Egerton, who was 78, authored the award-winning UPK book Generations: An American Familywhich the New York Times Book Review called “riveting”. He also contributed to other UPK books and introductions. The staff sends their respects and best wishes to his family and friends.
